The Shapiro Laser Eye Center is honored to be quoted today in Women’s Health Magazine in an article by Kate Bayless about vision and glasses correction. This article looks at how the way glasses sit on your head can affect vision. One of the optical downsides of glasses is that they need to seat perfectly or their level of distortion increases. This is because each lens has a “sweet spot” called the optical center which must sit directly over your pupil. If the glasses aren’t in perfect position, then you are not looking through the most visually perfect part of the lens. The higher your prescription, the more critical this is. In fact, many patients who are having LASIK tell me it was their frustration in simply wearing glasses that finally led them to undergo laser vision correction and see well without glasses!
