NFL Linebacker Improves Game With LASIK

A patient, motivated by the Cowboys having their summer training camp in Oxnard, came to my Ventura office for a LASIK consultation to help improve his personal football game. He asked me if pros find that LASIK helps them. The answer is absolutely! Most recently, the NFL linebacker De’Vondre Campbell of the Falcons underwent LASIK to improve his playing. Last season, even though he wore glasses off the field, Campbell played without glasses or contacts. He could not even see the scoreboard. During the off season, he underwent LASIK laser vision correction in both eyes and immediately noticed a huge difference. Falcon’s coach Dan Quinn strongly supported Campbell’s decision and wished he had done it sooner, “”I think it will help, because he didn’t use his corrective lenses when he played,” Quinn said. “He played for years without them, but wore glasses full time. So I was glad he thought (LASIK) would be an edge for him. We supported that decision to get the vision corrected, for sure.” Even by early this month in off season play, the Falcons already noticed a big difference in Campbell’s performance as he was making plays he wouldn’t have been able to do last year, thanks to his improved vision from LASIK. I have performed LASIK on professional athletes from various sports, ranging from baseball to auto racing and all have felt that having LASIK gave them an important edge as they could compete with great vision and without glasses or contacts.
